Definitely, i hope that ones of you on the cathedral steps in broad daylight surface on the internet one day. For now all we have is the pull out poster from Bravo magazine.
Thank you, really appreciate that. Would love to see more.
I remember reading something Day Murch said about paint on the belts always having a tendency crack and flake off showing the black urethane beneath, the waistbands constantly needed to be replaced. Any memories related to the belts?
Yes I remember their fragility in that way too. It was one hell of a procedure, putting on the undergarments, top with fixing plate, then the suit, cape…everything screwed in, veins of the cowl/mask aligning the cape…glued in and then sprayed. There was a lot of wear and tear as you can imagine. I worked with some of the accessories/gadgets too which was fun.
What are your gadget memories? Any interactions with John Evans and prop department?
Great gadget memories with John Evans…special effects/prop department. I remember using the Batarang MK1 gizmo, which was motorised on the utility belt. Really cool how it just came along the belt and I took it out and threw it. Took a few takes to get used to the feel and operation of it, with Peter McDonald, second unit Director. John Evans let me have one of the breast plates.
Wow so you guys did a shot of the folded Batarang coming to Batman's hand on the belt during the opening rooftop scenes? I assume all the shots of Batman's gloves assembling the grappling hook pistol are you.
Yes we did that, but sadly I didn’t do the assembling of the grappling pistol shots.
There are a number of scenes, where I know I would have made a huge difference, with my athleticism and handling of the costume. I think the studios felt they had to give Michael some continuity, even though I can see it’s more awkward!
Another one
Fabulous…thank you. Those series of shots reminded me how interesting, focussed and involved yet again, it was. My dedication, commitment, wanting to do everything perfectly. I had great joy when Dave Lea attempted to do a sequence after the fighting. His fighting was terrific, but he couldn’t move like me and Peter McDonald called for me. I had done the key shots prior to the fighting and picked up after.
What do you think?
