Alfred Stryker was a criminal living in Gotham City.
History
Alfred Stryker was the leader of the so-called "Chemical Syndicate," a group of criminals investigated by Batman in his first published appearance. After being revealed as the murderer of his former business partners, Stryker was punched by Batman and knocked back into a vat of acid, where he was killed. Batman nonchalantly remarked "A fitting end for his kind".
The six-page "Case of the Chemical Syndicate" story has been retold three times in the course of Batman's publishing history. In one modern retelling, Stryker's daughter Prisilla became the villainess, Pesticyde, armed with a gun that could project her father's deadly chemicals. In this version, it was she who sought revenge on her father's business partners. Another modern version (following the original plot more closely) appeared in Detective Comics #627 to commemorate Batman's 600th appearance in the series.
