DC has celebrated landmark anniversaries as the years of the Batman brand's existence have accumulated.

50th anniversary[]
Possibly the first major anniversary acknowledgement, the release of 1989 motion picture starring Michael Keaton was a noted marketing angle. Screenwriter Sam Hamm was invited to write three issues of Detective Comics by editor Denny O'Neil. The timing of the release for the Warner Brothers film have it often associated with the general anniversary of the character in subsequent events.
75th anniversary[]
The first ever "Batman Day" was held on July 23rd. Bruce Timm directed an animated short, Batman: Strange Days in tribute to the original Bill Finger stories. Darwyn Cooke also created a Batman Beyond short.
80th anniversary[]
A special Detective Comics #1000 issue with numerous variant covers will be released.
