The Arkhamverse (sometimes referred to as the Arkham Universe) is the name given to an "Earth-1" reality in the DC Multiverse. It serves as the main setting of the Batman: Arkham videogame series and its various spin-off media.
Though its Batman and history heavily resembling New Earth, this reality timeline notably diverged after a a riot at Arkham Island. In its aftermath, the Arkham City supermax prison was established to replace both the Asylum and Blackgate Prison, though this was later shut down after the implementation of a controversial protocol. Nine months later, Batman went into apparent retirement after his identity was exposed during a battle with the Scarecrow and the Arkham Knight. Batman would fight against various enemies but his most famous was the Joker, a clown-themed criminal whose hand was involved in multiple incidents that affected his life and psychology.
The prequel was set during Christmas time and Batman's younger days as the Dark Knight and his first meeting with the Joker during the $50 million bounty he placed on Batman's head.
