Aunt Hilda was a villainess in the 1960s Batman series. She was portrayed by Estelle Winwood.
History[]
Hilda Lundegaard is the aunt of Marsha, Queen of Diamonds, who thinks she is a witch specializing in potions, although it’s unknown if she’s her paternal or maternal aunt. She was also once a Chemistry teacher at Vassar College, but got fired.
She was first seen, when Marsha visits her basement where Aunt Hilda, resides and was testing a new potion. Marsha asks Hilda about a special potion for Batman, knowing he is more resistant to ordinary potions.
Sometime later, Marsha returns to see Aunt Hilda, about the failure of her latest potion. Hilda, who was taking a bath, tells her she knew the potion was of poor quality anyway, so they try to figure out a workable potion for the Dynamic Duo.
After Commissioner Gordon calls Batman, telling him about how Marsha was saying to him that she has to visit her aunt, while Batman suspects that there may be a basement where Marsha and Aunt Hilda are hiding. Using the Bat-Computer, Batman and Robin connect the coordinates of Marsha’s basement, and then they pay a visit to the Queen and Hilda. Hilda throws another potion at Batman and Robin to turn them into mice, that attempt fails and a fight with Marsha’s men ensues. Marsha then throws a smoke bomb, rendering Batman and Robin unconscious, then Hilda applies a foolproof potion to turn Batman and Robin into toads before delivering them to Commissioner Gordon’s office.
After Marsha was arrested, Aunt Hilda was sent to the Wayne Institute of Economics and started teaching a culinary class, presumably being on parole. She was seen talking to a student, while Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson look on.
Later on, Aunt Hilda left the Wayne Institute of Economics because of Marsha, who was out of prison. Hilda then help Marsha and Penguin with their scheme as they need her love potion. But they were stopped by Batman and Robin, with Aunt Hilda being sent to the Wayne Institute of Economics again to continue teaching her culinary class.
In Batman '66, the comic continuation that started in 2013, Aunt Hilda returns alongside Marsha and attempt to commit a numerous of crimes. In one of her appearances, Hilda gets fed up with the meddling of the Caped Crusaders in Marsha’s plans and decides to reanimate one of Marsha’s recently deceased husbands. With her resurrecting Solomon Grundy and giving him a single purpose, to destroy Batman and Robin.
