Bat-Cuffs, sometimes spelt Bat Cuffs, are bat-shaped handcuffs used by Batman. They are often used to restrain criminals that Batman has defeated or during their arrest. Bat-Cuffs are often stored on the Utility Belt.
Functionality[]
The cuffs are made out of a diamond-impregnated nylon and a steel core. Unlike ordinary handcuffs, they are often designed without a lock to prevent criminals from escaping. Special tools have been passed over to the Gotham City Police Department to remove them safely.[1]
History[]
The Bat-Cuffs first appeared in the 1960s Batman series. They were often used by Batman and Robin to restrain criminals after their capture. The cuffs first appeared in "Hi Diddle Riddle" and continued to appear in various episodes following its appearance. They also appeared in the feature Batman: The Movie to restrain Catwoman after her defeat.
Bat-Cuffs have rarely appeared in the comics, though their first recorded appearance was in an issue of World's Finest Comics.
