The Bat-Signal was a distress signal device appearing in the 1966 Batman TV show.

History[]

Batman (1960s series)[]

The Bat-Signal was rarely used in the live-action television series because Commissioner Gordon usually contacted Batman in the daytime with his Batphone, in a radical departure from the comics.

Batman: The Movie[]

In the 1966 movie, Robin asked Gordon to get Chief O'Hara to activate it as a distraction so that the criminals would think that they were headed for Police Headquarters.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders[]

The signal was used twice at the beginning and at the end to summon Batman and Robin to Police Headquarters.

Batman vs. Two-Face[]

Gordon and O'Hara used the Bat-Signal to summon Batman and Robin to the roof of Police Headquarters to inform them of King Tut's crime.
