The Batcomputer is one of the main pieces of crimefighting equipment that Batman and Robin use almost daily. There also a mobile version that Batman uses when on the go in the Batmobile or even when the Batmobile is stolen, Batman connects his Bat Radio link to use the Voice Control Batmobile Relay Circuit to eject the felons that have stolen the Batmobile.

History[]

Sometimes the Batcomputer, while almost flawlessly works and generates almost impossible clues, malfunctions. This device has been known to malfunction under pressure or when it was moved to Londinium when Batman fought Lord Marmaduke Ffogg and it wouldn't function properly due to being moved so far away.

The "Batcomputer" was actually surplus equipment from Burroughs Corporation and was one of many pieces of such equipment not only used in the Batcave in the 1966-68 Batman TV series, but also in other 20th Century Fox TV productions of the period, such as Lost In Space and The Time Tunnel (ironically, the former aired in the same time period as Batman during 1966 and part of 1967).

Legacy[]

The Batcomputer is one of the biggest influences of the Dozier series on the comic books. It was promptly inserted into Batman #189 in 1967 as the Bat-Computer. The Batomputer has appeared in every in incarnation of the character ever since.
