Synopsis[]
Earth One takes place in DC's Earth-1 continuity, which reimagines its characters and their early days. Comics in this universe are published under the Earth-One banner.
In Volume 1, Batman investigates his parents' murder, believing it to be related to criminal activity committed by Gotham City Mayor Oswald Cobblepot. After an encounter with the deranged enforcer called the Birthday Boy, he allies with GCPD officers James Gordon and Harvey Bullock.
Volume 2 picks up six months after the previous issue, with Bruce now working with the childhood friends Harvey and Jessica Dent to disband Cobblepot's remaining enforcers. During this, Batman begins investigating a serial killer called "the Riddler", who murders several seemingly unrelated civilians. During the investigations, Batman comes into contact with Killer Croc, a deformed outcast living in the city's sewer system.
Volume 3 takes place the following month, with Batman now investigating a gang war supposedly instigated by Harvey. During the investigation, he comes into contact with a man claiming to be his maternal grandfather, Adrian Arkham, and a mysterious thief known as the Cat. The issue also sees the formation of the Outsiders.
