"Shadows: Chapter Five"[]
Synopsis[]
Using the files stolen from his office, Harvey tracks down and kidnaps a member of the "Joker Gang" behind the Halloween Riots and attempted robbery. After deliberating whether pay him double what he was offered, Dent convinces him to recruit other members to his cause. Discovering Harvey stole files related to the bank job, Gordon visits Barbara to learn whether they have been in contact after the escape from the hospital. When she loses his temper, Gordon reveals he has resigned from the GCPD and confesses that his compliance with Batman was unjustified. As he leaves, Barbara discovers Harvey has slipped her a note asking her to meet him at Burnside Park.
Whilst on patrol, Batman and Robin learn of a series of explosions in the subways surrounding the GCPD Headquarters. Meanwhile, Dent sends his men to attack the GCPD and arranges snipers to attack those fleeing the building, using their attack to break into the evidence room. With the room overrun with criminals, Gordon activates the Batsignal to summon Batman to the building. Whilst he protects Gordon, Batman sends Robin to take out the snipers.
Along with his gang, Dent steals the money confiscated from the Joker Gang's attempted heist. After shooting Bullock as he attempts to stop him, Harvey is confronted by Batman and Gordon. Using the Super-Batarang from Barbara, Harvey incapacitates Batman and causes him to fire a tranquillizer dart into Gordon. Taking him hostage, Dent forces Batman back by threatening to kill the commissioner and save Bullock's life. As he is surrounded by the police and forced to surrender, Robin uses the Batcycle to incapacitate them, allowing them to flee the scene.
In the Batcave, Batman reveals that the dart also contained a tracking device, allowing them to trace Gordon when he surfaces. The following morning, Dent sends $900,000 of the stolen money to Burnside's citizens. Having "been told" to spare Gordon, he keeps him locked up in the station. After causing distraction, Gordon slips the tracing device onto Harvey so that Batman can trace him. After getting a lock, Batman and Drake follow Harvey as he leaves for his rendezvous with Barbara at Gotham Park, where they discover both his men and GCPD waiting.
Pretending to be alone, Barbara meets Harvey and attempts to arrest him. As he prepares to handcuff himself, Catwoman intervenes, causing a shootout between both officers and Dent's men. Using the opportunity to escape, Harvey flees to his lair. As he panics over Barbara's betrayal, Gordon confronts him on his actions and how he is only showing his true nature. This prompts Dent to shoot him. As he panics over disobeying the coin, Batman arrives to confront him.
