Batman '89 #6 is the sixth and final issue in the Batman '89 comic series. The issue was written by Sam Hamm, drawn by Joe Quinones and colored by Leonardo Ito. The issue was released on July 5th 2022.

Synopsis[]

As their confrontation begins, Batman attempts to reach out to Dent and convince him to surrender. However, Harvey attempts to flee, taking a briefcase with him. When the vigilante uses a roped-Batarang to subdue him, Dent detonates explosives hidden within the Station, knocking Batman unconscious and unmasking him to Dent. After taking a photograph, Harvey flees as Robin and Catwoman arrive on the scene, taking Bruce back to Alfred for medical attention.

As he awakens, Bruce and Selina talk, during which she reveals she has been targeting the Lincoln Savings and Loan due to their association with the mob. She reveals the organization had hired the Joker Gang to steal the documents, though Batman's foiling of their heist disrupted the plans and has left them in Harvey's possession. As he digests the information and his unmasking, Bruce begins to contemplate a life with Selina and away from the cowl.

Meanwhile, Harvey meets with many of Gotham's mobsters and corrupt politicians, demanding they work as his enforcers under blackmail. He also kills Carmine Falcone after he refuses to comply. Harvey later visits Otis to gain his favor, though reluctantly murders him after he denounces Dent and attempts to push him out of the Burnside Council. Drake arrives on the scene shortly afterwards and attacks him, though Harvey escapes and leaves evidence framing him for the crime.

Learning that Harvey plans to meet him, Bruce brings him to the Batcave. Though Dent plans to use a photo taken to blackmail him and offers to arrange Drake's release, Bruce instead offers an alternative: he can heal his disfigurement and restore his position, working together to take down the criminals of the city together. As Harvey goes to flip the coin, Catwoman, having hidden in the scene, cuts the supports for the Giant Penny, causing Harvey to fall to to a collapsing ledge. Though Bruce tries to save him, Harvey falls to his death, imagining the many possibilities for the scenario. Horrified by Selina's actions, Bruce chastises her and claims to have switched Harvey's coin for a double. As they fight, she learns he'd actually given him the real coin and leaves, revealing a bug she'd been using to spy on him.

Retrieving Harvey's revolver, Bruce passes it over to the police, implicating Dent in his crimes and clearing Drake of murder charges. Having decided to operate on his own, the youth takes the Batcyle and recommends Bruce drops Nyesha's trust fund, suggesting they place her in his sister's care. Still grieving for her loses, Barbara receives two messages: one from Catwoman proposing a partnership and another from Harvey, revealing Bruce's identity as Batman. Several weeks later, Bruce has a dream where he is married to Selina and has a family with her. After being awoken by Alfred, he uses Harvey's coin to decide whether he should continue his operations as Batman...
