History[]

Origin[]

After the loss of his parents at the hands of Gotham City’s criminal underworld, millionaire Bruce Wayne swore an oath to defend the weak and innocent.

Young Bruce traveled to a small island to learn training in a dojo, which would help him defend himself. His teacher was Madame Mantis, who was also teaching Slade Wilson in the same class as Bruce. Their first class together was Arts and Crafts, where Bruce came up with the design for his Bat Mask. He was the favored student, and usually won his duels against Slade. Once Bruce mastered all of the techniques except for the forbidden move, Slade left out of anger, claiming he would “become the greatest fighter the world has ever known” on his own.

Batman and the Bizarro League[]

When asked by Superman to help them solve the disappearance of all the League's rogue galleries, Batman hesitantly helped out the mightiest heroes on earth. After stopping Bat-Mite, who was behind the disappearances, Batman joined the Justice League to keep an eye on the most powerful being on the planet, Superman. The hearts and minds of men were no mystery to him, but he knew he had to find out more about the Kryptonian. He kept a "Just-In-Case" box of kryptonite, for if Superman ever went bad.

After a supposed attack by Superman on LexCorp, Batman was sure he was right about his evil intentions, although it turned out to be Bizarro, who was Superman's clone created by a LexCorp duplicator ray. Bruce believed that he had alibis in the League, as he says to new rookie Cyborg, but his paranoia caused him to start thinking things that weren't true. He went to investigate the crime scene, and stole a device by Lex, which was a plan to kill Superman. Once Bruce came face-to-face with Bizarro, him and the League were duplicated to have a Bizarro-like clone of themselves.

Even after Bizarro's appearance proving that Superman was innocent, Batman still suspected it was part of a plan. He hesitantly left to go with the League to Bizarro-world, which was where the Bizarro League went to. He assumed Superman was luring them to a planet as a trap, so he took his kryptonite box. Things seemed more convincing for Batman once all the League's powers and gadgets were rendered useless on Bizarro-world while Superman still had his. Batman followed Superman when going to investigate the planet, to ensure Superman wasn't alone.

They discovered Darkseid was using special rocks from Bizarro-world to create a weapon, so Batman attempted to build a thermal weapon to stop him while the Justice League and Bizarro League held off Darkseid's forces. The weapon was destroyed by Bizarro's kryptonite bomb, which Bizarro didn't know was dangerous. Darkseid got enough Bizarro-energy to charge up his weapon, but Batman got Hawkman to intercept the ray before it hit earth. Batman is told to overload Darkseid's ship with the rocks, so that it would be disabled, but he assumed Superman wanted him to do that to help destroy earth. He hesitated, but ended up trusting Superman anyways. Once Darkseid was defeated, Batman was slightly less suspicious about Superman's intentions, but kept the kryptonite box just in case.

Attack of the Legion of Doom[]

Batman is now the leader of the Justice League, due to a vote occurring in the Hall of Justice. When the Legion of Doom stole an alien for their plan, Cyborg went to Batman for advice on how to help, and Batman said he had to feel nothing towards the cowardly and superstitious criminals. After an accident involving a nuclear reactor, Batman and the Justice League were banished from Earth by the government. Once Martian Manhunter found a way to bring them back to Earth, Batman was reluctant in letting him help them stop the Legion of Doom due his involvement with them. During the battle against the Legion of Doom, Batman is almost killed by Grodd, but is saved by Superman.

Cosmic Clash[]

Batman has finally claimed that he cannot be more proud to be in the Justice League, once helping Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter catch Vandal Savage and Cheetah. While being questioned by Hal about Batman's trust, an alert goes off and they head to outer space to see what's wrong. Braniac sends Superman, Hal, and Wonder Woman into different sections in time, and Batman uses the help of Cyborg and Flash to find them and turn the Batmobile into a cosmic treadmill so they can time travel.

While Cyborg gathers other heroes on Earth to help slow Braniac's attack, Batman and Flash head to the Stone Age, where Batman looks for Wonder Woman. With his new caveman disguise, Batman stops Vandal Savage from kidnapping a cavewoman named Ugh, but Ugh catches them both with a lasso. Ugh leads Batman to her Queen, who turns out to be Wonder Woman. She has a form of amnesia, and cannot remember Batman. He challenges her to a trial by combat, and takes her lasso to use it against her, making her remember who she is.

The next time period they head to is 1741, where Hal Jordan is now a crew member on a pirate ship. He steals Hal's ring from Captain Fear's chest, and gives it to Hal. Once Batman has to walk the plank for stealing the treasure, Hal uses the ring to remember who he is, and saves Batman.

Batman heads to the future of Metropolis, where Superman has been upgraded by Braniac into a deadly cyborg. He was given orders to kill Batman on his arrival, since Present-Day Braniac knew Batman would be going to that time frame. He's saved by Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy, and Saturn Girl, who he isn't sure if he should trust. While they distract Braniac's robots, Batman uses the tunnel from Metropolis to Gotham so that he can get to the Batcave. Braniac Superman finds him, but Batman uses concentrated yellow sunlight to power down Braniac and bring back Superman. However, the Cosmic treadmill is damaged and Flash and the machine are sent back to the present, leaving Batman stranded. Cosmic Boy helps him find a time sphere so that he can get back to the present, and Batman and the League stop Braniac's plan from shrinking the earth.
