Synopsis[]
"The Danger Club!"[]
THE DANGER CLUB is a small group of people who have extra-risky professions---explosives expert; experimental test pilot;sky-high bridge repairman. Jack Thorn, an impressionable young man, tries to qualify for the club by becoming a stock car-driver---and is killed during his first race. His brother Mack storms into t he club's meeting room and makes threats.
They aren't taken seriously until explosives expert Carew is killed at his place of business by a massive explosion that demolishes a good portion of a Gotham City suburb. Batman and Robin are informed of the situation, but Thorn has temporarily faded into thin air. He is an expert sailor and could be hiding anywhere on the water.
Milding, the test pilot, experiences sudden engine failure during his next flight and has to bail out over a swamp. While inspecting the wreckage, Batman is knocked out from behind and left to die in quicksand. Robin arrives and throws Batman a line attatched to the Batmobile's rear bumper; and pulls him out.
Batman announces he knows who the killer is and they rush to protect Carson, the bridge-repairer. Spotting a masked man using a torch to cut cable, they confront him and force him to flee.
At the club meeting place, Batman exposes Milding as the killer. He had purposely sabotaged his own plane to divert suspicion, as Batman discovered when he found workings of a harmless smoke bomb in the wreckage.
Milding had been heavily embezzling from the Group Life Insurance Fund of the club, to fund a lavish lifestyle.Thorn is found to be a prisoner in Milding's home.
The Danger Club dissolves, because "the club itself was the greatest danger we ever faced". To be added
