The Batsuit was protective armor used by a new variant of Batman to fight crime in a parallel timeline. This costume was used in Bruce Wayne's later years to fight crime and during his alliance with the Flash to restore the hero's original timeline.

History[]

The Batsuit was the seventh known version of the costume, having replaced at least two previous costumes used by Batman. It was kept in a hidden vault in Wayne Manor's study alongside other versions of the costume. Like its predecessors, the Batsuit provided Batman protection against various forms of attack and its cape could transform into a glider. It also appeared to maintain Bruce's physical condition despite his old age.

After deciding to help the Flash and his timeline's version locate its incarnation of Superman, Bruce redonned the costume to protect himself and access equipment needed. The costume was worn both during the infiltration into a Russian Black Site and Battle with the Sword of Ro.

Features[]

Protective Armor[]

The Batsuit featured a lot of the protective enhancements its predecessors had featured. In addition, its cape could also be charged to create a bulletproof shield, with the fabric being strong enough to withstand assault rifle fire. Despite this, the suit was not strong enough to protect Batman from Kryptonian-level strength, with him suffering fatal injuries after being thrown by Nam-Ek.

Cape Glider[]

Like one of its predecessors, the Batsuit's cape could transform into a glider. However, this iteration made use of a memory-cloth technology similar to other incarnations throughout the Multiverse. Batman often used the cape both to descend heights safely and glide over long distances.

Gauntlets[]

The Batsuit's gauntlets featured a number of equipment and features. These included a thermal torch to cut through objects, most notably a padlock for a hatch. The gauntlets also contained controls for other equipment, including a visual display for time bomb setting. It is assumed these also contained controls for vehicles like the Batwing.

Utility Belt[]

The Batsuit now was equipped with a black utility belt with vial-shaped storage containers at the front. It was often used to store his gadgets and equipment, including Batarangs and the grapple gun. The full contents of Batman's utility belt is unknown, though these were known to include included smoke grenades, hacking tools, explosives, a thermal-vision scope, a torch and a tape measure.

Behind the Scenes[]

Andrew Domachowski and Alexandra Byrne did the initial conceptual illustrations for this costume. The fabrication was overseen by Pierre Bohanna. They initially wanted to design a suit that would be comfortable to Keaton, was more mobile and would allow him to turn his head. Keaton requested a suit that had the same mobility as the two he wore for his films as this allowed him to get into character.
