The Battle at Gotham Square Garden was a confrontation between Batman and followers of the Riddler. Taking place in the midst of a flood created by the recently incarcerated serial killer, the battle was initially an assassination attempt on Bella Reál and Gotham's political system. However, the plans were thwarted by Batman and his allies, including Catwoman and the Gotham Police Department.
Background[]
After finding of Riddler’s plan to destroy Gotham’s political system by flooding the city and have his followers Assassinate mayoral candidate Bella Reál, Batman leaves Nashton’s flat to stop the serial killer’s loyal followers.
Due to the authorities being distracted by the flooding the Riddler’s followers are able to get in Gotham Square Garden and position themselves high above the stage and the crowd with all of them with various firearms and the same costumes of the their leader.
James Gordon arrives at the Gotham Square Garden and informs the security that they have an active situation and that they need to sweep the building for explosives believing that Riddler planted bombs somewhere and they need to evacuate Bella Reál due to her being the target.
Battle[]
Gordon makes his way to the stage and approaches Reál and informs her that they are under attack which she ignores and proceeds to go out on the stage to clam down the crowd so more civilians can enter the building to take shelter from the flooding.
However Riddler’s followers shoot her in shoulder wounding her Gordon then drags Reál to safety, the Lieutenant gets out his gun to fight the unknown gunmen however he realises their are several of them suddenly Batman blows up the roof and enters ready for a fight.
Arriving where the followers are stationed The Dark Knight then uses his grapple hook to swing two followers over the side and defeating them, the vigilant then takes on the followers attached to a rope,he defeats by throwing them of the side but they are suspended onto a rope which prevents them from falling.
After making his way though several more followers Batman launches himself at a group of followers knocking them down and disarming them however two of the followers get up at drag the vigilant to a platform where they attempt throw him off however the Dark Knight is able to kick them down,another follower arrives on scene and try's to shoot Batman and a follower lying on the platform try’s to the same however both followers shoot each other and destroy the platform’s support rope which causes the platform to become unstable which leads to some of the followers falling to their death, Batman is able to hang on to the side.
Meanwhile Gordon try’s to control the situation by ask a firefighter how to get up to the area where the followers are to assist the Dark Knight in defeating them. Selina Kyle see Batman fighting the followers and decide to help by climbing a ladder.Batman, still repeatedly being shot at by Riddler’s followers and holding to the side notices a gas tank and destroy with a Bat bomb which creates a smoke screen which confuses the remaining followers thus allowing the hero to recover and attack them, he uses one of the followers rifles to hit and knock them out.However there is one follower left which Batman notices but before the hero can do anything the follower shoots him with a shotgun this cause the Batman to fall of the edge but he hangs on to the side, the follower then reloads the weapon ready to shoot the Dark Knight in the head but before the gunman can do anything Kyle arrives and defeats him saving the hero.
Kyle says to Batman that he has done enough however their conversation is cut short when the remaining follower gets up and pulls Selina off the vigilant and attempts to stab her,worn out Batman takes an adrenaline shot to take out the follower ,the hero pins down the man and repeatedly punches him in the face until Gordon arrives with two other officers and a firefighter, Gordon then gets the hero to settle and unmasked the gunman wondering who he is to which the follower informs he is vengeance just like Batman.
The flood water then breaches the building’s main doors and destroys the stage which causes several deaths and injuries to people who were around the area, the flooding causes the electrics to get damaged this causes danger to anyone in the water, Batman using his grapple hook swings to the electrical circuit to disable by cutting it with his knife, he then fall into the flood waters and makes his way to trapped people including the late mayor’s son and leads them to safety with his flare.Off screen Riddler’s follower are taken into police custody.
Aftermath[]
The day after the Battle Gotham begins to evacuate citizens on top of Gotham Square Garden which Batman helps with, which makes the people of Gotham see him as a hero.
Due to the flooding Selina leaves Gotham and because of Carmine Falcone’s death there becomes a power struggle in Gotham Crimal underworld, the criminals of Gotham take advantage of the flooding by looting places where the authorities can’t access.Meanwhile in Gotham state hospital, Riddler annoyed his plan failed makes a new friend, with the new friend stating Gotham loves a comeback.
