Bill Garland is an American artist who painted numerous movie posters and advertisement pin-ups. Gairland created the iconic gold Bat-insignia used on the 1989 Batman movie poster. The B.D. Fox ad agency commissioned other artists like John Alvin to create a multitude of unused posters but Tim Burton and the producers decided to use only Garland's symbol.
