Blaze was the henchwoman of False Face. She later turns on him and helps Batman and Robin capture him.
Biography[]
She appeared disguised as the Princess Mergenberg, along with her boss, False Face disguised as the Queen's escort, to steal the Mergenberg Crown at the Gotham City Museum. After Blaze gives the curator and Chief O'Hara a note with a False Face quote, "All That Glitters Is Gone", False Face reveals himself and pulls off his phony beard, lights it on fire and throws it on the ground, revealing itself to be a smoke bomb to cover up the scene while he switches the crown with an imitation. He makes escape while Blaze, in disguise, chases after him, dropping her inflatable cape to block O'Hara and his men at the door, and both she and False Face climbed into False Face's Trick-Truck disguised as a police van.
After False Face disguised the truck as a bakery van to elude the police, O'Hara, Gordon and the curator thought False Face and Blaze failed to steal the crown, but realized the glass case has a plastic top and the crown was replaced by the fake one. Gordon summons Batman and Robin over to Police HQ to consult on the case. Blaze appears at Gordon's office disguised as an old man messenger, and gives Batman and Robin a message saying, "I intend to give to a defenseless little girl, signed, F. F." After working out the message, the Dynamic Duo realize False Face is going to hijack an armored car at the Ladd Armored Car Company, and Batman sees through Blaze's disguise, and she makes her escape by jumping out of the window, and onto a safety mat left by False Face. Later at his hideout at the old Bioscope Movie Studios, False Face produces the stolen crown from under Blaze's wig to his gang, and makes plans to destroy Batman and Robin.
When Batman and Robin arrive at the Gotham City Bank, False Face, disguised as an armored car guard, gave him away by parking the armored car near a fire hydrant. The villain makes his hasty escape in his Trick-Truck in its armored car guise, and the Caped Crusaders follow him in the Batmobile to an alley where False Face and his henchmen ambushed them. While Batman and Robin deal the henchmen, False Face disappears in the confusion and Blaze tries to escape in the Batmobile, but Batman stops her and urges her to give up her criminal life, but she refuses and jumps out the Batmobile and escapes. Just as the police arrive, False Face reappears in his Trick-Truck disguised in its police van guise, and False Face himself disguised as Chief O'Hara and knocks out the real O'Hara by spraying sleeping powder in his face. While the police escort False Face's men away, False Face sends Blaze to hide O'Hara on a garbage scow.
Back in the Batcave, the Dynamic Duo examine the note Blaze brought for Batman at police HQ and discover it’s the same stuff they print money on. They head to the Official Bank Note Printing Company, the top-secret place where the paper is created. Blaze shows up, gassing an employee and trying to steal more paper with the help of two members of False Face's crew. Batman and Robin fought two of False Face's men and defeated them, and leave for the guards. When Blaze tries to spray Batman with the sleeping powder, Batman blows it back into Blaze's face, knocking her out. They took Blaze for interrogation at Police HQ. At Gordon's office, the Dynamic Duo along with Gordon and O’Hara (False Face in disguise and pretending that he has a toothache) interrogate Blaze into telling them where False Face's hideout is. Blaze refuses to tell at first, but promises to help them find False Face, and O’Hara (False Face) offers to follow along with some hand-picked cops. Blaze leads the Caped Crusaders to a closed subway station (lying that it's False Face's hideout). When she asks Batman to get her a candy bar from the nearby candy vending machine, she gasses Robin and Batman gets gassed by False Face disguised as the machine. As False Face secure the Dynamic Duo to the train tracks with super-strong epoxy, Blaze thinks he's going too far, but False Face insists that the heroes must be disposed of. As False Face drags Blaze away, she begs Batman to forgive her, which he does. After False Face pulls Blaze out of the station, a train hurtles toward Batman and Robin to will momentarily trisect them.
As the train barrels towards the Caped Crusaders, Alfred hears a radio message saying: “Many are called but two are chosen—be receptive", alerting him to the Dynamic Duo's peril. He contacts Batman who requests that Alfred throw the short-circuit lever of the Battransmitter, causing Batman's radio to blow up and melt the epoxy on his wrist. He uses his free hand to reach the Batlaser in his utility belt, which he uses to melt away the remaining epoxy and free himself and Robin just as the train passes through the station and by the Dynamic Duo. False Face accuses Blaze of helping the Dynamic Duo escape. She insists that she’s innocent, though she was the one who planted that radio message. Batman and Robin head to the radio station to see who sent the message, but the station manager says it was anonymous, but the woman who paid for it had green hair, meaning it was Blaze who sent the message. Back at Gordon's office, O'Hara was rescued from the garbage scow and informs Gordon that was knocked out and replaced by False Face disguised as himself.
Blaze left another clue with the station manager: "When she gave over the check, she said you could bank on it being false". The check was drawn on Gotham National Bank, and Batman deduces that False Face plans to place his counterfeit money in the bank. False Face, disguised himself as a bank guard, arrives at the bank with his men. He sends Midget, his midget henchman, to disable the alarm, which he does, but suddenly, Batman and Robin burst out of the vault door and a Batfight ensues. As O'Hara and his men arrive, False Face escapes in the confusion disguised as a police officer, and gets away in his Trick-Truck with Blaze handcuffed inside. After Batman, Robin and O'Hara found the real officer in his underwear, the Dynamic Duo raced to the Batmobile and sped after False Face to Bioscope Studios.
After capturing False Face's men, the Dynamic Duo deploy an inflatable decoy of the Batmobile to trick False Face into blowing it up. As False Face gleefully suspects he killed Batman and Robin, the real Batmobile appears out of hiding with the much alive Dynamic Duo who reveal their ploy to False Face. But they force him to surrender, False Face escapes on a motorcycle from the back of his trick truck. They free Blaze and gave chase through the old movie sets. They manage to knock False Face off his motorcycle and chase him on foot and were soon joined by Gordon and O’Hara. After seeing through False Face's cowboy disguise, Batman knocks him into a building and fights him. As Gordon and O'Hara rush into the building, O'Hara and Batman came out with a coughing Gordon who tells them to order a squad car and they must capture False Face he strikes again. However, Batman realizes that Gordon was holding his handkerchief in his left hand instead of his right and deduces False Face's identity and captures him. As the real Gordon arrives, False Face was arrested and taken into custody.
After False Face's arrest, Blaze arrives at Wayne Manor, now completely reformed thanks to the Wayne Foundation Rehabilitation Fund. She plans to live with her brother, a simple sheep farmer in New Zealand.
