A Bruce Wayne, Jr. first appeared in the Batman #131 story "The Second Batman and Robin Team!". Depicted as a tale written by Alfred Pennyworth, he is the son of Bruce Wayne and Kathy Kane after they retire from crime-fighting and marry. Bruce Wayne, Jr. takes on the Robin identity next to Dick Grayson's Batman. Though initially depicted as a fictional character, subsequent events and retellings placed the story in DC's Earth-Forty.
Bruce Wayne, Jr. would later be adapted into another possible future in World's Finest #154. Depicted as another imaginary story, he befriends Superman's son Kal-El, Jr. and becomes the Batman of the Future. This story also introduced the concept of the Super Sons, which would be adapted into later incarnations of the characters or reimagined, notably with Damian Wayne and Jonathan Samuel Kent.
