Television[]
Gotham[]
South Burnside appeared in the episode Wrath of the Villains: Transference and in the tie-in novel Gotham: City of Monsters by Jason Starr. In this continuity, Burnside was the borough where Fish Mooney crashed a bus of Indian Hill monsters after she escaped from Arkham Asylum. Penguin, Butch Gilzean and several other criminals who thought the bus was driven by Hugo Strange then confronted her underneath a viaduct.
The 125th Street Viaduct in Manhattanville was used as a filming location for Burnside in Gotham.[1]
Batwoman[]
Several locations in the Burnside borough appear in the 2019 television series Batwoman, including Burnside Park in the episode "The Rabbit Hole" and Burnside Motel in season 2.
The Penguin[]
The Burnside neighborhood makes a cameo appearance in The Penguin episode "After Hours". Burnside is briefly seen in the distance and identified on a mileage sign when Victor Aguilar drives Oz Cobb to his meeting with the Falcone Crime Family.[2][3]
Film[]
Joker[]
Burnside also exists in the reality of the 2019 film Joker. It was included on the subway map of Gotham City that appeared in the final version of the movie.[4][5]
Miscellaneous[]
Batman '89[]
A Burtonverse version of Burnside appears in the comic series. Influenced by areas like Harlem, it is reimagined as prominent urban neighborhood in Gotham and where Harvey Dent grew up. Burnside plays a vital role in his crusade against Batman and Commissioner Gordon.[6][7]
