Cillian Murphy portrayed Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. He is one of only five actors to appear in all three films. Murphy also auditioned for the role of Batman in the films, though Christian Bale ultimately received the role.
Murphy has also appeared in several other films directed by Nolan, portraying Robert Fischer Jr. in Inception and the Shivering Soldier in Dunkirk. He is best known for portraying Thomas Shelby in BBC TV series Peaky Blinders.
