Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke, is a former member of the U.S. Armed Forces turned mercenary and assassin. He has encountered Batman on several occasions.
Deathstroke was invited to meet Lex Luthor on his private yacht, after the latter had escaped from Arkham Asylum. Having heard about Batman teaming up with other heroes to defeat Steppenwolf and his army, Deathstroke was approached to join "a League of their own".

Behind the scenes
Deathstroke officially debuted during the post-credits scene in Justice League. However, in August 2016, Ben Affleck shared test footage of the character on his Twitter account. This teased that Deathstroke would in the The Batman, which Affleck had signed on to write and direct. Many have speculated that Deathstroke was intended to be the main antagonist of the film.
However, Affleck left the project in January 2017, leading Matt Reeves to be hired in his place. The script was heavily rewritten, removing Deathstroke and other elements of the previously established DC Extended Universe. However, a solo film for the character is reported to be in production.
