Firefly appeared in The Batman and was voiced by Jason Marsden. In the series, he was a mercenary and an arsonist for hire.

History[]

A corporate saboteur, Firefly executed a few takedowns of rivals to GothCorp. Paid by the job, Firefly did each one with ease until Batman intervened. Though Firefly proved to be a challenge for Batman at first, he was taken down when Batman mimicked Firefly's high-speed jet-pack, which allowed him to play "catch-up" and took Firefly down. He debuted in "The Big Heat".

In "Fire and Ice", Mr. Freeze hires Firefly to help him put his new plan to action: putting Gotham City in a never-ending winter However the two turned on each other and were stopped by Batman.

In "Team Penguin", he joins the titular team led by Penguin alongside Killer Croc, Ragdoll, and Killer Moth which was formed to finally eliminate Batman and become rich. In the end, Firefly was defeated alongside the team and captured.

In "Rumors", He was captured by Rumor, wanting to be eliminated alongside Gotham City's other criminals and super villains. After being freed, Batman and Robin defeated Firefly and the other freed prisoners preventing them from killing Rumor.

In "White Heat", Firefly gained a new partner and lover, known as Jane Blaisedale, and they both stole a phosphorus isotope to upgrade his battle suit. When the Batfamily finds out about their romance Batgirl compares them to Joker and Harley Quinn. An accident causes the stolen item to mutate Firefly into Phosphorus which has him acquire greater powers and abilities but is also driven insane. He infiltrates the Chemical Plant and plans to destroy Gotham City; but is foiled and ultimately defeated by Batman, then sent to Arkham Asylym. Blaze also breaks up with him for good.

Powers and Abilities[]

Firefly's weapons and paraphernalia included a heat ray, a battle suit, and a jetpack (which sounded like a fly when it was used).

In the sky, Firefly was a dangerous enemy, but when he's grounded, he's not much of a threat, as his hand-to-hand skills were useless against Batman. He was also known to have a backup secret stinger in games.

His Mental instability makes him a city-level threat.
