Frank Gorshin portrayed the Riddler in the live-action ABC television show and its 1966 spinoff film. Gorshin was the original lead villain featured in the series pilot and help set the tone for other guest villains to follow. Gorshin was so popular he reprised the role in the 1979 Legends of the Superheroes television special, where Riddler was featured as the leader of the Legion of Doom.
Gorshin later appeared in Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt with Julie Newmar and voiced Hugo Strange in The Batman until his death in 2005.
