Harvey Dent is a district attorney in Gotham City who plans to prosecute Arthur Fleck/Joker.
Biography[]
Harvey Dent is a young district attorney. Two years following Arthur Fleck killing four people (although five unknowingly to everyone) and indirectly causing mass riots in Gotham, Dent plans to have Arthur face the consequences by putting him on trial and getting him a guilty verdict, which would hopefully result in the death penalty. Dent builds a case against Arthur, whilst Arthur's lawyer attempting to create an insanity plea so Arthur can be spared and receive the treatment he needs. During the trial Arthur gives into his infamous Joker persona and fires his lawyer in order to defend himself.
After being brutalised at Arkham State Hospital, Arthur gives up his Joker persona and confesses that he himself committed the crimes and not an alter-ego and admits that he is sick and twisted. Dent's ambitions become a reality when Arthur is found guilty by a jury. But a Joker follower plans a bomb outside the courthouse and blows up the courtroom, which engulfs Dent and the others there. Dent is disfigured when one side of his face is badly damaged in the blast.
Trivia[]
- He is an adaptation of Harvey Dent, who is known by his supervillain alter-ego Two-Face in the comics.
- This is the sixth live-action adaptation of Harvey Dent.
- This is the second Harvey Dent not to become his villainous alter-ego Two-Face, although one side of his face is seen damaged following the explosion.
- He is similar in a way to Thomas Wayne from the first Joker film, both are huge figures in Gotham City that come into conflict with Joker, and end up sharing their comic book fates (with Thomas Wayne being shot dead in the first film, and Harvey Dent being disfigured in the second), all due to Arthur's actions.
