The Iceberg Lounge was a nightclub located in Gotham's Triconer district. Located underneath the Shoreline Lofts, it was run by the Penguin, a lieutenant in the Falcone Crime Syndicate. The club served as a legitimate front for the 44 Below, an underground nightclub run by the organization.

History[]

The Iceberg Lounge originally belonged to the Gotham Harbor Iceberg Fish Company, presumably for the storage and packaging of fish. At some point, the area was obtained by the Falcone Crime Syndicate, who used it and the above Shoreline Lofts as a base of operations. On paper, the building was owned by Oswald Cobb, who transformed the floors into a nightclub. The lower levels held the main dance floors whilst the upper balconies held the club's offices and staff facilities, such as the changing rooms.

Below the Lounge, the basement area held the 44 Below, a "club-within-the-club" for members and associates for the Falcone Crime Syndicate. Several associates, such as Don Mitchell Jr., Pete Savage, Gil Colson and Richard Stone, were known to use the club as an entry and exit to the club. Falcone's son, Alberto Falcone, also typically hanged at the club, being notorious for his addiction to alcohol and drops. It's assumed that employees of the 44 Below were also employed at the Iceberg Lounge as cover.

Despite its legitimate status, Penguin often used the Iceberg Lounge to distribute Drops, even employing staff to deal them. Members of the Falcone Syndicate were also employed as bouncers and enforces, including William Kenzie and the Twins. Criminals also appeared to perform illegal deals both inside and outside the club, with Penguin appearing to turn a blind eye to these activities.

The Iceberg Lounge served as the location for Batman's first skirmish with Penguin and his men. Despite injuries to staff and the public scene, the club's operations continued as normal. Gil Colson was later kidnapped outside the club the following night.

To capture Carmine Falcone, Batman infiltrated the Iceberg Lounge as the Drifter to access the Shoreline Lofts. During the battle, power was cut off from both the club and the entire building by the vigilante. During Falcone's arrest, he was led out the entrance to the Lounge to waiting officers. Falcone was shortly murdered outside the club by the Riddler, who'd been spying on him and his associate from an apartment overlooking the club's entrance.

The Iceberg Lounge's floor was completely submerged during the Flooding of Gotham City. Afterwards, the club was permanently closed down.
