James Gunn is an American filmmaker and writer. He wrote and directed The Suicide Squad, a sequel to the 2016 film and soft-reboot for the team of the same name. Gunn is best known for directing the Guardians of the Galaxy films and writing the first two live-action Scooby Doo films. He had been sought out by Warner Bros due to the success of the former franchise, which had influenced the first film. At the time, Gunn had been fired from the third Guardians film by Disney after several controversial tweets reemerged and were spread on social media.
