James Tynion IV is an American comic-book writer. Mentored by Batman writer Scott Snyder, he worked on several tie-in/backups for his run, including Batman Eternal and Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
During DC Rebirth, Tynion took over as the main writer of Detective Comics during its relaunch. He later took over writing duties for Batman (Vol. 3) in 2019, succeeding Tom King. Tynion also created a second ongoing Joker comic series, serving as its main writer. In August 2021, Tynion announced he would be leaving DC Comics after the conclusion of the Fear State story arc.
