"Julie, I'm not the marrying kind. There are things about me that you wouldn't understand."
―Bruce Wayne[src]

Julie Madison was Bruce Wayne's high society girlfriend.

After Bruce Wayne's failed relationships with Vicki Vale, Selina Kyle and Chase Meridian, Bruce began to date Julie.

After they dated for over a year, Julie proposed to Bruce. But Bruce, who knew that would interfere with his responsibility of being Batman, gently turned Julie down. Julie would not give up and told Bruce to think it over before he made his decision.

What became of Bruce and Julie's relationship following Poison Ivy's arrest remained unclear, but they presumably continued to date.

Julie was Bruce Wayne's very beautiful, charming, upper-crust girlfriend. Unlike his previous key girlfriends Julie did not discover Bruce's nocturnal identity. However, she was very keen to settle down with Bruce despite his reputation as a reckless "ladies man", and it is implied that she was becoming increasingly frustrated with Bruce's apparent inability to be a "one-woman man".

Behind the Scenes[]

Deleted Scene[]

Originally at the Gotham Observatory party Bruce was enchanted by Ivy's pheromones along with Gordon. Bruce attempts to pick up Isley in front of Julie and the press, and she gives an ultimatum to choose between the two of them. After Bruce chooses Isley, Julie calls it quits on their relationship and walks out, stunning the crowd. This scene is incorporated in both the main novelization by Michael Jan Friedman as well as the junior novelization by Alan Grant. In both books, the scene continues with Bruce then asking Isley out to dinner but being outright rejected by Isley in front of the press, including Gossip Gerty, who notes down the development.

  • Julie is the only love interests of Bruce in the Burton/Schumacher film series who does not learn that he is Batman.
