Lew Sayre Schwartz (July 24, 1926 - June 18, 2011) was an American cartoonist.
History[]
Lew Schwartz began working with Bob Kane in 1948 after he signed his new contract with National Comics. The standard operating procedure was for Lew to do full pencils, laying out the entire storyline. Bob himself would fill in Batman and Robin's faces to make sure they stayed on model. Despite Lew's completion of full artwork on many stories, Bob would often redraw various Batman and various supporting characters, often without Lew's knowledge.
