Mackenzie Bock was the Gotham City Police Department's Chief of Police. Though not corrupt like Commissioner Savage, he was highly distrustful of the vigilante Batman and his operations.
Biography[]
Bock's history prior to Riddler's attacks is unknown, though he was promoted to Chief of Police by Batman's second year. He appeared alongside officers investigating Mayor Mitchell's murder, standing alongside Gordon and Commissioner Savage during a press meeting announcing the crime. After Savage was murdered by Riddler, Bock presumably took charge of the GCPD.
Bock was among the police officers to attend Mitchell's funeral. During it, he learned from Lt. Jim Gordon that District Attorney Gil Colson had disappeared. When the DA drove into the event and revealed a bomb collar, he mobilized operations to clear the area and set up a parameter to prevent casualties. Whilst sending in a camera to learn how the save Colson, Bock watched as Batman arrived and his confrontation with the Riddler, which resulted in the DA's death.
Bock was among the officers who were present when Batman was taken into the GCPD HQ for custody. He disliked Batman accusing him of being corrupt. Though he planned to arrest the vigilante, he allowed Gordon two minutes to speak with him. After Batman attacked Gordon to end the conversation, Bock sent his officers to arrest him as he fled the building.
Notes[]
- In contrast to the comics' version, The Batman's version of Bock the character was depicted as the Chief of Police and is depicted as antagonistic towards Batman. He was also played by a Caucasian actor Con O'Neill, whereas the comics often depict him as African-American.
