Matt Reeves is an American filmmaker. He was the director of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, co-writing the screenplay with Peter Craig. Reeves is also set to return as writer and director for the film's sequel titled The Batman: Part II.[1]

Reeves also serves as the creator and executive producer for the upcoming Max series The Penguin, which will be a fully canonical entry in The Batman Saga multimedia franchise. He is also set to continue this role in an upcoming Arkham series (set in James Gunn's DC Universe) and an untitled Gotham PD series, though the latter project's fate is currently unknown. Reeves also serves as one of the creators to the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, alongside longtime collaborator J.J. Abrams.

Bat-History

Ben Affleck era

When he first joined The Batman's production, Reeves was to direct Ben Affleck's screenplay for the project. However, he convinced Warner Bros. to repurpose it into a different project, feeling that he couldn't connect with its more action-driven approach.[2] He then wrote a new script with Mattson Tomlin that was also thrown out. Eventually he found a new collaborator in Peter Craig, the son of Sally Field.

Recasting Bruce Wayne

Screen tests were done for months to find a new Bruce Wayne, it eventually came down to Nicholas Hoult or Robert Pattinson.
