Ra's al Ghul was the leader of the League of Assassins in Batman: Under the Red Hood. He hired the Joker in a plot that resulted in the death of Jason Todd and later assisted Batman in uncovering the truth behind Jason's eventual return as the Red Hood.

Batman: Under the Red Hood[]
During a plan enacted after being hired by Ra's al Ghul, the Joker captured Jason Todd and took him In a warehouse in Sarajevo, Bosnia. The Joker soon beat Jason with a crowbar and left him to die on the warehouse floor. Jason attempted to get out, but the Joker had put a lock on the door. Batman arrived in time to see the warehouse explode, killing Robin.
Later, at Wayne Manor, Batman dug up Jason's grave site and found a fake body made of high-end latex. Enraged, he went to Ra's al Ghul's mansion and demanded the truth about Jason. Ra's revealed to Batman that he switched Jason's body and revived him in his Lazarus Pit because he felt responsible for the boy's death. Following his resurrection, however, Jason went wild and escaped, dropping his identity as Robin. Ra's had been trying to find Jason for years, until he heard the news from Gotham of him becoming the Red Hood. Ra's then promised to stay out of any further conflicts between Batman and the Red Hood, telling Batman that he had "done enough".
