"You know what I always say? FRIGHT makes right!"
―The Scarecrow[src]

The Scarecrow is a Batman villain who appeared in LEGO video game series. A former professor of psychology, he was fired after creating and experimenting with a fear toxin. Scarecrow has been set at odds with Batman on a number of occasions, with his schemes focusing on either gaining money for his research or terrorizing the city with his fear toxin.

History

LEGO Batman: The Videogame

Scarecrow was one of the many inmates to escape Arkham Asylum, joining the Joker's group. Along with Harley Quinn, Mad Hatter and Killer Moth, he agreed to his plot to destroy Gotham City with his Joker Toxin, using the Cathedral as their distribution point.

Whilst Joker is being chased by Batman and Robin, Scarecrow attacked them in his biplane, threatening to release his fear toxin through the city. This led to a chase and battle in Gotham's Skyline, resulting in him colliding with Joker's helicopter. Though presumed dead by the dynamic duo, Scarecrow and Joker survived the crash, using balloons to slow their fall. Crashing into the Gotham Art Gallery, they fought their way through police officers, security guards and Swat to escape. However, Scarecrow was captured in the storage area and abandoned by Joker. Scarecrow was returned to Arkham and last seen in his cell.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

When Joker and Lex Luthor orchestrate a breakout at Arkham, Scarecrow was one of the inmate set free. Unlike the other escapees, he initially stayed hidden within the Asylum and did not attempt to escape. Batman and Robin encountered him as they tried to visit Joker's cell. Battling them using his fear toxin, Scarecrow was defeated after they vented his toxin. However, he was able to escape the GCPD and fled into Gotham.

In the open-world Gotham, Scarecrow can be found in the Amusement Mile, where he has formed a temporary base in a giant pumpkin. There, he can be fought and defeated, where he can be bought as a playable character.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

Scarecrow does not appear in the base game, either within story mode, side missions or an unlockable character. However, the Nolanverse version is featured as part of the "Dark Knight Trilogy" DLC pack.

LEGO DC Super-Villains

Scarecrow is recruited by the Joker and Harley Quinn to break into the GCPD Lockup, alongside Riddler and Clayface. Together, they fight through officers and security measures to retrieve their equipment, where they are confronted by Batgirl and Nightwing. Scarecrow flees with the other villains to the Iceberg Lounge, where they are able to defeat the heroes. However, he is captured by Owlman and Commissioner Gordon.

Scarecrow is transferred to Arkham Asylum, but escapes with many of the inmates during a breakout orchestrated by Joker. Whilst the Legion of Doom recruit many of their number to defeat the Crime Syndicate, Scarecrow travels to Oa to rescue Sinestro with Gorilla Grodd, Killer Frost and the Rookie. He also participates in the battles between the Legion and the Syndicate, but is promptly defeated when Lex Luthor betrays them.
