Smoke Pellets were gadgets used by Batman and his allies in their operations. They were often used to create smokescreens to either cover their escapes or provide cover to subdue enemies.
Gameplay[]
Smoke Pellets were added in Batman: Arkham City as a new gadget for Batman to use. When he is spotted in Invisible Predator sections, Batman can use the pellets to break line-of sight and escape notice. However, they can also be aimed and thrown freely, allowing Batman to isolate enemies and take them out without others noticing. The smoke will desperate after fifteen seconds
Smoke Pellets can only be used once in an area. When Batman enters another room, they will return to his inventory. In hub areas, they will need time to reappear before they can be used again. The player can destroy objects like fire extinguishers with Batarangs as a potential alternative.
Smoke Pellets return in most entries following Arkham games, with the exceptions being Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate and Batman: Arkham VR. They retain the same gameplay in all appearances, though Arkham Knight will slow down time if spotted so the player can decide whether they should use the Pellet or take down the enemy. In Arkham Shadow, the Smoke Pellets (now referred to as Smoke Bombs) are stored in the upper compartments of Batman's left gauntlet. A timer is also present to display their recharge time.
In addition to Batman, Robin (Tim Drake) makes use of Smoke Pellets in Arkham City's DLC, including the Challenge Mode and Harley Quinn's Revenge campaign. Dick Grayson can use of them in Arkham Origins' multiplayer mode. Batgirl also makes use of Smoke Pellets in A Matter of Family and Challenge Mode for Arkham Knight. Some games provide alternatives for characters, such as Flashbangs for Deathstroke in Arkham Origins and Red Hood in Arkham Knight.
