Solomon Grundy was a villain and zombie who appeared in Legends of the Superheroes and Batman '66.
History[]
Legends of the Superheroes[]
Solomon Grundy functioned as a crony under the leadership of the evil sorcerer, Mordru. Mordru equipped Grundy with a special workman's cap, and sent him out undercover working at an automobile repair shop. The cap altered Grundy's appearance, making him unrecognisable to others. Throughout the movie, various super-heroes approached the auto-garage, asking the disguised Grundy for information. Invariably, Grundy would accidentally remove his hat, negating its effects, and thereby exposing his concealed identity. He fought several established heroes and even managed to capture the Black Canary, Huntress and Hawkman. By the end of the film, Batman and Robin succeeded in rescuing their defeated colleagues and apprehending Grundy.
Batman '66[]
Cyrus Gold was once a wealthy Olympic wrestling champion who was seduced by Marsha, Queen Of Diamonds using some of her aunt Hilda's potions. Cyrus was very loyal to Marsha, and one day she told him to wait for her outside. However, for some unknown reason, Marsha forgot about Cyrus, leaving him to freeze to death during the winter. He was eventually resurrected by Hilda as Solomon Grundy and was given a single purpose: destroy Batman and Robin.
Grundy was among the Batman Villains assembled by the Joker, Catwoman and Penguin at Gotham Studios in a scheme to finally defeat the Dynamic Duo. At the villainous conference, Getaway Genius tried, unsuccessfully, to teach Solomon Grundy how to properly escape from prison. All the rogues were later apprehended and taken into custody when Batman and Robin quelled the villain riot.
