I would say it is because Nolan's version is more like the comic book Gordon in appearance and in what he does. I like the burton/schumacher films but Nolan is more true to the comics character wise.

When I first viewed the film "Batman & Robin", Pat Hingle's Gordon reminded me most of Chief O'Hara's final comic book appearances, where the writers gave the character a graying moustache. He did not at all remind me of the 'James Gordon' I was used to from earlier comic portrayals. --Duel44 01:29, June 16, 2010 (UTC)
