The Terrifying Clown was a thug who worked for the Penguin, as a member of the Red Triangle Gang.
History[]
Holding Selina Kyle hostage[]
That man dressed as a clown, and operated throughout the criminal organization, the Red Triangle Gang. As Batman approached him during an attack by the gang in Gotham City, that man grabbed the passing Selina Kyle and threatened to harm her with a stungun if Batman didn't retreat.
Batman shot a grappling hook line at a building wall behind the clown. The clown believed that Batman had tried to hit him with it, and mocked him by saying: "you missed". Batman then jerked hard on the projectile's cord, which tore loose a chunk of the concrete that hit the clown in the back of his head, instantly knocked him out. Selina thanked Batman for saving her, and after he left without saying anything, Selina inspected the clown's taser, then briefly shocked him with it, and let out a giggle of surprise and excitement.
This clown was arrested by GCPD soon after.
Legacy[]
After she became Catwoman, Selina started to carry this clown's stungun in her left boot. She eventually used it on Max Shreck's neck when she killed him with an electrical explosion from a large generator, kissing him while stunned from the weapon.

- The Terrifying Clown was the first boss in the Super Nintendo video game adaptation of Batman Returns, under the name "Stun Gun Clown".
