Thomas Wayne (Earth-2)

Thomas Wayne took up his son's mantle of Batman, protector of Gotham City on Earth 2.

History

While walking home from a movie theater with their young son Bruce, Thomas and his wife Martha were accosted by a robber named Joe Chill. Attempting to robbing Martha of her jewelry, Thomas Wayne tried to disarm the attacker. The mugger shot and killed Thomas. Martha was so distraught she had a heart attack and died soon after the murder of her husband (Some re-tellings of the Batman stories contended that Chill also killed Martha directly). Now orphaned, their son Bruce made a graveside promise to avenge their deaths. To this end, he dedicated his life towards stopping crime. As an adult, Wayne would get his long standing revenge on Chill after learning it was Chill who murdered his parents (Batman #47). Wayne would eventually overcome his longing for a new family when he took in Dick Grayson and later married Selina Kyle and had his own daughter.

In Gotham City, 1971, while still in training to be a doctor, Thomas Wayne helped Frankie Francesco after he was shot in the street. He became friends with Frankie and was introduced to Martha. Tommy, Martha, Frankie and Alberto partied hard with Tommy supplying the Laudanum. Two years later, Tommy and Martha had a son, Bruce. Tommy tried to leave the business and threatened Frankie, so Frankie had his men attack Tommy only for Jarvis Pennyworth to intervene. Eight years later, seeing no other options, Frankie hired Joe Chill to kill Tommy. Chill shot and killed Martha and wounded Thomas in front of their son who believed them to have both died. However, Thomas survived and convinced his friend Leslie Thompkins to let him remain dead so that Frankie would leave Bruce alone.

Miraclo: Batman derives all his superhuman abilities from the "miracle vitamin" Miraclo. The active ingredient is a special form of phosphorus, which bonds temporarily with the ATP in muscle cells to create a "Adenosine Quad-Phosphate" which energizes the cells.
Kryptonite: Batman carries a small shard of Kryptonite around his neck.
