The Tragedy at the Hippodrome was an event that occurred on the night of the charity circus.
Event surrounding[]
Some nights later, after the Second Bank of Gotham Heist, Two-Face planned to learn Batman's identity by traveling to the charity circus at the Hippodrome with some of his thugs.
The tragedy[]
On the night of the circus, Bruce Wayne, Chase Meridian attend the event with Gossip Gerty, James Gordon and Mayor Burian-Mohr, where they watch the performance of the Flying Graysons. Unbeknown to everyone, the ringmaster was grabbed and knocked out by Two-Face's thugs, and Two-Face impersonated him. After the Flying Graysons performed the "death drop", Two-Face appeared in the centre ring, where he reveals himself to the audience and sent his thugs to hold everyone at gunpoint.
After killing a nearby clown, Two-Face produced a giant orb full of 200 sticks of TNT and a radio detonator. When Burian-Mohr asked Two-Face what does he want, Two-Face explained that he wants to know which of the audience members is Batman, and they have 2 minutes unless his enemy reveals himself, before he starts up the bomb. As the bomb starts to rise, Bruce stands up and yells to Two-Face that he is Batman, but his yell was drowned by the panicked screams of the audience.
Racing off in the confusion, Bruce defeats some of Two-Face's thugs, while the Flying Graysons go to stop the bomb. As the bomb rose right up the ceiling, Dick's parents John and Mary and older brother, Mitch, shimmied across the overhead cables for the trapezes to grab the bomb, but failed. Below, Two-Face flips his coin, and when it landed scarred side up, he grabs a dropped gun and fired at the cable, severing it, sending John, Mary and Mitch falling to their deaths, while Two-Face escapes through a trap door. Meanwhile, Dick grabs the bomb and disposes of it by sending it rolling down the side of the building and into the harbor where it explodes. Peering down from the ceiling, Dick finds his family lying dead on the ground. Looking up at Dick's teary-eyed face, Bruce solemnly looks down at the bodies of Dick's family, as everyone gathers around them.
