The Universal Tool is the name given to a multi-functional digital tool used by Batman. Stored within the Utility Belt, it contains a variety of hardware and electronic tools. The tool often serves as a digital Swiss army knife and one of Batman's most useful devices.
Functionality[]
A small device with an approximate 9 inch length, the Universal Tool consists of two different sections: an electronic mini-computer with multiple access points and a storage sleeve containing a variety of tools. The former is powered by rechargeable mini fuel cell. It can be used to act as a digital lockpick on electronic defenses and to disarm bomb detonation systems. It also contains a variety of wires to allow interface with many devices.
The latter section has also be reinforced to act as a hammer. The universal tool keeps a variety of mini tools, including screwdrivers, wire cutters, lockpicks and strippers. Batman can use it as an improvised toolkit or to break into objects.

In Other Media[]
- The Universal Tool appears in Batman: Dark Tomorrow. To obtain the game's good ending, the player must use the gadget to disarm Ra's al Ghul's bombs whilst infiltrating the fortress.
